Amber Nelson and Olivia Sanchez hit two home runs each and Amber Bishop added another as Murrieta Valley rolled to an impressive 11-4 victory over Southwestern League rival Chaparral Wednesday. Sanchez also pitched a complete game and picked up her 13th victory of the season.
Murrieta jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first only to have the Pumas tie it in the third. The Nighthawks scored three in the fourth and two more in the fifth and never looked back. Chaparral managed to bring home a run in the fifth before Murrieta Valley put the game away with four more in the seventh.
Nelson went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and five RBIs. Sanchez also drove in four runs for the Nighthawks. Bishop had three hits and two RBIs.
Taylor Moore went 3-for-3 and drove in a run for the Pumas. Jordan DiGiacinto, Reilly Peters and Ylannah Bowman also drove in a run each. Bowman pitched the entire game for Chaparral and ended up with the loss.
Murrieta Valley will be home as the two teams will be on the field again Friday.
