Home Runs by Olivia Sanchez and Amber Bishop Lead the Nighthawk Attack

Nighthawk Ace Olivia Sanchez was dominant on the mound Friday afternoon as she stuck out nine, scattered three hits and led Murrieta Valley to a 5-1 victory over the Pumas. Sanchez allowed no earned runs and helped herself as she nailed a two run home run in the third inning.

The Nighthawks are unbeaten in Southwestern League play and the victory keeps the Murrieta Valley in a first place tie with Great Oak. The Wolfpack thrashed Temecula Valley 15-4 and are 6-0 in league.

Amber Bishop’s sacrifice fly brought home a run for the Nighthawks in the first inning. Murrieta Valley would lead for the rest of the game. Bishop added to the Nighthawk lead as she drove her sister Autumn home in the third inning with a huge homerun. Sanchez followed with a two run blast of her own with Kiylee Chenault on board to put Murrieta Valley ahead 5-1.

Taylor Morre drove in Reilly Peters for the lone Puma score in the seventh inning. Chaparral  starting pitcher Ylannah Bowman pitched five innings for the Pumas. The freshman walked two, struck out two and got stuck with the loss. Seirra Badillo came in to pitch an inning of scoreless relief in the sixth.

Murrieta Valley will play Vista Murrieta on Monday and two games against Temecula Valley next week. The Pumas play Vista Murrieta on Wednesday and Friday. Chaparral is 1-5 in Southwestern League Play.
