The Nighthawks Beat Laguna Beach 12-6 in the Semifinals
Murrieta Valley’s Serbian import Jovana Kuljanin helped lead the Nighthawks to an impressive 12-6 victory over Laguna Beach. Kuljanin took care of previously unbeaten Breaker senior Summer Dvorak 6-4 Wednesday as Murrieta Valley advances to the CIF SS Division II Championships on Friday. Nighthawk junior Emily Maxfield also won her singles match against Dvorak.
The CIF SS Division II Championships will be played at the Claremont Club at 10am. The Nighthawks under Coach Trent Warren have dominated Southwestern League Girls tennis since winning the Championship in 2008. Murrieta Valley has been undefeated for four consecutive season in league play but the CIF Championship has eluded them.
Murrieta Valley will face Valencia High in the Championship Match. The Vikings beat Beverly Hills in a close 10-8 game to get to the finals.
The Nighthawks beat Cate HS 12-6, Simi Valley 16-2 and Sage Hill 15-3 to get to the finals. The team is focused on bringing home their first CIF Championship.
