HS Football: Vista Murrieta Advances in CIF SS Playoffs

The Broncos Roll Over Canyon, Tesoro is Next

Vista Murrieta took care of a talented Canyon Country team 56-28 Friday night and the Broncos are getting prepared to take on Tesoro this week.
The big question for Head Coach Coley Candaele and the Bronco faithful is Kyle William’s ankle. Williams was injured at the end of the first half after orchestrating a 42-6 lead. The Bronco quarterback had rushed for 126 yards and scored three touchdowns on six carries. He also completed 4 passes for two touchdowns to Collin Baker. He ended the half with 150 yards in the air.

Williams was just beginning to shine at quarterback. He was thrust into the position in game one of the season due to an injury to the starter. His education on the field has been a tough ride and Williams has become the top quarterback in the Southwestern League. “I kind of strained my Achilles a tad bit,” said Williams. “It’s nothing serious, just a little strain.” Let’s hope so.
Vista Murrieta would score 14 points in the third quarter without their starting quarterback before Candaele rested his starters. The Cowboys scored 22 points in the second half to cut the deficit to 28.
The Broncos will be home Friday night they are getting ready to play Tesoro from Santa Margarita. The Titans placed second in the tough South Coast league with a 3-1 record. They are 9-2 overall after last week’s convincing 52-14 victory over Newport Harbor. Tesoro’s only losses were to La Mirada and Mission Viejo this season.

Game time is 7:30 pm and make sure you get there early for parking a good seat.
