Chris Jones Named Murrieta Mesa Boys Basketball Head Coach

Jones Had a 104-46 Record as the Head of the Vista Murrieta Girls Basketball Program

Vista Murrieta lost one it’s successful coaches this week as Chris Jones moves to Murrieta Mesa to take over the Boys Basketball program. Jones had built the Broncos Girls basketball team into a Southern California powerhouse over his five year tenure at Vista Murrieta The Broncos were 104-46 and were the Southwestern league Champions for the past three seasons.

Jones inherits a Rams team that went 10-16 last season and finished dead last in the Southwestern League.  Murrieta Mesa had been coached by Antwan Dela-Paul who stepped down at the end of the season. It has been over ten years since Jones last coached a boys basketball team. He was the Head Coach at Bellflower High from 1998-2003 before leaving to build the powerful Broncos Girls Basketball program.

The vacancy that Jones’ departure has created at Vista Murrieta is up for grabs and an in-district search is currently being conducted. The new coach will inherit a team loaded with talent and a potential contender for the California State Open Championship. All-Inland Empire Team players Jaelyn Brown and Brittney Reed will both be back to finish out brilliant careers as seniors.

Jones' move has both campuses abuzz with excitement and anticipation for the upcoming season. In the meantime the coach will be back at Lakeside High school teaching Government and Economics. Good luck Coach!
