Vista Murrieta Got out to a slow start in the first period in Tuesday night’s CIF Division 1 State Semifinal game. and it cost them dearly. The Broncos could not overcome their early 20-8 deficit as Serra’s swarming defense kept Vista Murrieta off balance all night long. In the end,the Mighty Broncos fell to Serra 71-56 as the clock slowly counted down their remarkable season.

“We didn’t shoot well, we didn’t rebound well” said Vista Murrieta Coach Chris Jones. “We just didn’t do anything well. We allowed them to dictate to us when they were on offense.”

The Broncos were never a factor after the second period began. Vista Murrieta cut the lead to 12 in the second, but that was a close as they would come. The Broncos never seemed to regain their timing and floor presence after the long break between the CIF SS and California State Tournaments.

Junior Brittney Reed led the Broncos attack with 25 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals. Jaelyn Brown added 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Kali Jones and Nasrin Ulel were both held to four points apiece by the Cavaliers. Victoria Chea scored two for Murrieta while Alexis Marshall and Keilani Cooper each dropped one in from the charity stripe.
