There were a lot of expectations when Jim Kunau was named Head Coach of the Rancho Christian Football Program last year, and Kunau has delivered. In his first season he led the Eagles to a 7-4 record, placed second in the South Valley League and took his team into the CIF SS East Valley Division Playoffs.

“I was pleased overall with the effort and competitiveness last season” said Kunau. “We had to convert wide receivers and running backs into offensive linemen and linebackers. Then linebackers and DB's went to the defensive line because of shortages there. I thought we progressed well throughout the course of the season”.
Kunau built Orange Lutheran into one of the top Football Programs in the Nation. In his 19 year tenure as Head Coach he was 182-52-3, won 13 League Championships (11 straight from 1998-2008), two CIF SS Divisional Titles and a State Championship. To build the Eagles program Kunau has brought together a dedicated and experienced coaching staff.
“The coaching credit from last season goes to Coach Jimmy Kemmis for laying the foundation that made a good season possible” said Kunau. Kemmis is the linebacker coach and helped guide the Eagles for two seasons prior to Kunau’s arrival.
Bruce Thomas is the Assistant Head Coach and also handles the running backs. Reed Diehl is the Offensive Coordinator and coaches the offensive line. Coach Andy Davies handles the wide receivers and defensive backs.
The school’s Athletic Director Jake Fey is also the Eagles’ Defensive Coordinator and defensive backs coach. Philip Napolean is the Defensive Line Coach and is assisted by Kennedy Sio.
“Our goals this season don't vary from any other season I've coached whether at Orange Lutheran or here” said Kunau.
His faith-centered career in education is hallmarked by his passion for the character and leadership development of young people. He has a strong commitment to academic innovation and achievement, and the pursuit of athletic and artistic excellence.
Rancho Christian has a tough schedule and will begin the season with six away games in their first seven. First stop will be at Arrowhead Christian in Redlands on August 28 for the “Battle of the Eagles”.
