The All-CIF Southern Section/SCIBCA selections for Boys’ Basketball were unveiled this week and five local players were selected for first tea honors. Great Oak senior co-captains Torin Webb and Latrelle Franklin , Elsinore senior Preston Beverly and Rancho Christian juniors Trace Redfield and Jamal Brower were selected as the best in their Divisions.

Rancho Christian coach Ray Barefield was also named the CIF SS Division 5 Coach of the year.

Led by Torin Webb and Latrelle Franklin, the Wolfpack won the Southwestern League Championship with a perfect undefeated 10-0 record. Great Oak then rolled off four consecutive CIF SS playoff wins before dropping the final to Village Christian. The Wolfpack season ended abruptly as Great Oak was snubbed by the CIF State Tournament. Webb averaged 18.3 points per game last season and Franklin was the league leader with a 20.4 average.

Preston Beverly, Elsinore’s 6’7”center led the Tigers to the Sunbelt League Championship with a 9-1 record. Elsinore also advanced t the Division 2 finals only to lose to Compton. The big man was a dominant force on the court for the Tigers.
Trace Redfield averaged 24.2 points this season and his partner in crime Jamal Brower 24.3 points as he dynamic duo led the Eagles to the South Valley league Championships and beyond. Rancho Christian rolled off six straight CIF SS Division 5 victories and finished second to Price.
