He most recently served as the JV Tennis Coach for the Boys and Girls teams at Temecula Valley. He led the Golden Bears Boys JV to three undefeated seasons and the girls were also unbeaten last season.
“It’s important to develop the kids when they are young” said Gonzales. It’s important to build a farm system to feed the varsity. We have put together a year long program and the kids have been giving me 110 percent. The kids are really excited about the changes in the program and the enthusiasm has been great”.
The Pumas have been finishing in the cellar of the Southwestern League standings for the past few years and Gonzales is out to change that. “We will not finish last in league this year” said the new Puma Coach. “We now have five coaches in the program and we are all dedicated to improve the program. The kids are putting in the time and effort and there is a positive attitude in the new Puma Tennis program”.
Chaparral’s season starts with a match against Yucaipa and the league opener is going to be against Temecula Valley, the Pumas “new” cross town rivals.
Gonzales Will Take Control of Both the Boys & Girls Tennis Programs
John Gonzales has been named the new Varsity Tennis Coach for Chaparral High School. Gonzales is a Special Needs teacher at the school and has coached tennis for 12 years.He most recently served as the JV Tennis Coach for the Boys and Girls teams at Temecula Valley.
