The City of Murrieta welcomes the Flame of Hope today in a Ceremony to be held at Town Square Park at 4:15 today. The Torch will being carried by an International Team of Law Enforcement Officers on its way to the opening ceremonies at the Los Angeles Coliseum for the 2015 Special Olympics World Games as well as to State, National and the World Games.
The Flame of Hope was lit beneath the rays of the sun in Greece, the home of the Olympics. The flame then traveled across the sea to the United States where it has journeyed to communities throughout the country and to Southern California. Its journey will end at the Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles’ historic Memorial Coliseum.
Speaking at the ceremony will be New Jersey Port Authority Officer Frank Aresta, Special Olympic athlete and Final Leg runner Jazmine Slama from Utah, Also speaking is Captain Brian Lee from The California Highway Patrol Temecula, as well as state and local dignitaries.
