The Southland came out to honor Marine Sergeant Eric M. Seaman as he made his final journey hone from Lindbergh Field in San Diego Wednesday evening. The procession was escorted by hundreds of Patriot Guard Riders on motorcycles as they led the fallen 30-year-old Marine to the memorial in his home town of Murrieta.

Thousands of people stood silently by the route from San Diego to Murrieta to pay their respects as the entourage passed. People saluted quietly from freeway overpasses and along the side of roads as the hearse made its way to Murrieta.
The final few miles in Murrieta were packed with over a thousand well wishers who lined the sides of the road from the Freeway exit to its final destination in Old Town.
Sgt. Eric M. Seaman, married father of two, of Murrieta, California, was one of six U.S. Marines who died when their Camp Pendleton-based UH-1Y helicopter crashed in mountainous terrain after dropping off food in remote villages decimated by recent earthquakes in Nepal. Sgt. Seaman is survived by his wife Samantha, his son Roman, and his daughter Ryleigh.
Sgt. Seaman was born in Wildomar, California. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2009 and trained at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. He completed Marine Combat Training and reported to Pensacola, Florida for Crew Chief Indoctrination Training.
Upon graduation, Sgt. Seaman selected UH-1Y Hueys, and reported to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron 303 in Camp Pendleton for Advanced Crew Chief training.

On June 12, 2010, Sgt. Seaman joined Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 469 ‘Vengeance’. While with Vengeance, he completed a combat deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as well as graduated from the Weapons and Tactics Crew Chief Instructor course.
Sgt. Seaman received the Air Medal with Strike/Flight bronze numeral ‘5’, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with two bronze stars, and the NATO ISAF Afghanistan Medal.
A public memorial service is planned fro Sgt. Seaman on Friday at 10 a.m., at Lake Elsinore Storm Stadium.
