Last season was a bit of a disappointment for Coach Bert Esposito and his Wildcats. “We did not reach the main 3 goals that we had set for the team” said Esposito. “Although it was a good year and we went to the CIF playoffs again, we definitely fell short of what we felt we were capable of achieving. We had some injuries to many of our key players and our depth wasn't what it needed to be”.

Paloma Valley was 6-5 overall last season and made the CIF SS Playoffs for the fourth straight year. The Wildcats were 3-2 in league play and finished behind Heritage and Elsinore in the Sunbelt.
“We have our same three major goals of winning our city, winning our league and, of course, winning CIF this season” Esposito said. “We have an outstanding group of kids this year all the way through. We have some depth and I hope that this will help us get through some of the difficulties that all teams go through surviving through the season”.
Esposito also acts as the Wildcats’ Defensive Coordinator and Special Teams Coach. Mike Sotelo is his Assistant Defensive Coordinator. Tadd Oliphan coaches the defensive backs and is the JV Defensive Coordinator. Matias Carin is the Defensive Line Coach.
Juan Merida is the Wildcats Offensive Coordinator and also handles the offensive line. Dave Atencio, Robin Opp. Luis Robles and Joshua Gonzalez coach the wide receivers. Sam Davis is the Running Back Coach and Zach Dilley is the O Line assistant coach.
“Our team leaders this year are DeMarco Prewitt, Max Pichardo, Khayrii Joyner, Dayday Lewis, Steven Bradshaw, Chance Nolan, Lucas Opp and many others” noted Esposito. “I feel that this is the deepest, most athletic team that we have ever fielded here at Paloma. I am very excited at what our potential is and how we achieve our goals".
Paloma Valley’s first game will be at home against JW North on August 28th. The Wildcats beat the Huskies 28-12 in last year’s opener.
