ADELANTO, CA - Two home runs from outfielder Kyle Gaedele powered the Lake Elsinore Storm to victory Monday, as The Eyes ended their seven-game skid with an 8-7 win over the High Desert Mavericks.

Lake Elsinore took an early lead with a three-run second inning. Gabriel Quintana led off the frame with a walk, but he wouldn't be aboard for long. Gaedele delivered his first dinger in the subsequent at-bat, a two-run shot to left field that made it 2-0 Storm. The inning continued with a Marcus Davissingle, who moved to second after River Stevens delivered a base hit two batters later. An RBI double from Auston Bousfield scored Davis and increased Lake Elsinore's advantage to 3-0.
High Desert got a run back in the bottom of the second with a two out solo home run.

A four-run third increased the Storm lead. Robert Kral's leadoff double got things going, and a Mavericks throwing error allowed Quintana to reach. With runners on the corners and nobody out, Gaedele lofted a sacrifice fly to left field that plated Kral. Davis tallied another knock in the next at-bat, putting two on for Jeremy Baltz. The former St. John's Red Storm walloped his first homer of 2015, a three-run shot that made it 7-1 after two and a half innings.

Staked to an early lead, Storm starter Zech Lemond had some room to work with in his third California League start. The Houston, TX native allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits through four innings of work, but left the game with the lead still intact.

Leading 7-6 to start the fifth, Lake Elsinore scored the eventual winning run in the top half of the inning on Gaedele's second home run of the game.

Plagued by inefficiency and tough luck throughout the past week, the Storm bullpen came through in a big way Monday night. Walker Weickel (W, 1-0), Sam Holland, Matt Shepherd and Eric Yardley (S, 2) allowed just one run and three hits over the final five frames to preserve the 8-7 victory, with the lone High Desert score coming in the bottom of the eighth.

Gaedele paced the Storm offense with a 2 for 3 performance, scoring twice while driving in four runs. Quintana and Davis both scored twice, with the latter collecting two hits in a game for the second time this season while extending his hitting streak to four. Jose Rondon was 3 for 5 as well.

With the win, Lake Elsinore (4-8) ends a seven-game losing streak and records its first win against a South Division opponent this season. The eight-run outburst is the most by the Storm offense since Opening Night on Thursday, April 9, when The Eyes put up 10 against Modesto.

The commuter series continues on Tuesday in Adelanto. Ronald Herrera (1-1, 4.91 ERA) gets the start for Lake Elsinore, while Aliangel Lopez (1-1, 2.45) will go for High Desert (5-7). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.
