Vista Murrieta’s Michael Norman Named the Gatorade California Track & Field Boys Athlete of the Year

Michael Norman was named the Gatorade California Track & Field Boys Athlete of the Year Friday morning. The Gatorade Player of the Year award was established in 1985 and annually recognizes the top athlete in a sanctioned High School Sport in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Norman led Vista Murrieta to their first California State Boys Team Title by winning the 200 meters in 20.30 seconds and the 400 with a time of 45.19 seconds at the State finals in Clovis earlier this month. Both times are California Stat records. Norman also ran the opening leg on the Broncos 400 relay team and anchored the 1,600 relay team.
The Bronco junior maintains a 3.54 GPA and is active in the local community. Norman is also a member of Vista Murrieta’s school's community assistance club and is involved in various activities to help and assist the needy. He is also involved with the Special Olympics and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
Norman is now eligible to win the Gatorade National Athlete of the Year Honors.
