Pumas quarterback Quinten Barry put Chaparral on the board in the first quarter with two touchdown passes. The first, a 10-ard toss to Wes Long and then moments later nailed Lloyd Hightower with a 55-yard pass to put the pumas up 14-0. His third TD pass was a 36 yarder to Nick Anselmo that put the Pumas up 21-7.

That would be the last time Don Lugo would score until the fourth quarter when Jessse Munguia took the ball in from the 7-yard line to make it 21-13.

Chaparral put the game away in the final 8-minutes of the game, scoring twice in the final quarter on runs after driving into Conquistadores territory. Austin Bacher ran for tough yards all night and capped the scoring with a 2 yard TD late in the game. Isaiah Hall also carried for some big gains as the Pumas Offensive line was having a good night controlling scrimmage.

Linebackers Trevor Grieb, Jose Coral and Austin Smith made several key tackles while Desmond Young Jr. and Isaiah Garibay were solid in the defensive backfield. Garibay also intercepted a key pass on a late drive by Don Lugo.

The Pumas are off to Corona to battle Santiago next week. The Sharks are 1-3 and are coming off a big 51-7 win over Silverado last week. Santiago fell to Vista Murrieta 55-33 two weeks ago.
