The Chaparral starter left the game after a 6 for 9 performance totalling 62 yards in the air and 116 yards on the ground.

All of the Pumas points were generated by Special teams. Chaparral scored on long kickoff returns by standout running backs Lloyd Hightower and Michaelk Onyemaobi. Outside linebacker Isaiah Hall recovered a Poly fumble and took the ball back 64 yards into the end zone for another touchdown.

With 7:13 left on the clock, Poly quarterback Alex Lewis  nailed wide receiver Dixon Stith on a sideline-and-go route which resulted in a 60-yard touchdown that put the Bears up for good.

Stith had five receptions and finished the game with 97 yards. He also opened the second half with a 99-yard kickoff return. Senior receiver Alex Dory caught a 81-yard touchdown in the first quarter  and ended the game with four receptions for 129 yards.

“The kids battled,” said Pumas Head Coach Jeremy McCullough. “It was a wild, wild game. I’ve been coaching for 19 years, and have never seen a game like that.”

McCullough will now get his team ready to play the Pirates in Oceanside next week without his starting quarterback.
The Pirates are 1-1 this season and are coming off a 49-13 loss to Eastside Catholic from Sammamish, Washington. Oceanside has long been a Southern California football powerhouse and beat the Pumas 24-0 last year.

Poly will host Etiwanda at ML King Friday night. The Eagles are off to an 0-2 star in 2015.
