Murrieta Mesa ventured to Palm Springs Saturday night and got ambushed by the Indians 45-28 in a non league game. Palm Springs’ explosive offense put 28 points on the scoreboard before the Rams finally scored on a 50-yard touchdown run by McKinley Ross halfway through the second quarter

Mesa would cut the gap to 24-14 minutes later when quarterback Peyton Uhl hit Jacob Ray with a 19 yard touchdown pass. The Indians however, responded by driving downfield and Gino Vallejo nailed a 31 –yard field goal to give Palm Springs a 31-14 lead at the half.
The Rams pulled within 10 points on the first play of the second half as Ross took the kickoff and took it 90 yards into the end zone to make it 31-21. The Rams then scored on Uhl’s 56-yard touchdown pass to Logan Pharris and Mesa now only trailed by a field goal 31-28.
The Indians defense stiffened and Palm Springs offense came back to life in the fourth quarter. The Indians drove from their own 27-yard line and ended the dive with a 5-yard TD run by Franklin Miller to put them up 38-17.
Four minutes later Palm Springs put the game away with a 61-yard touchdown run from scrimmage by Noah McGuire. Final score: 45-28.
The Rams find themselves with a 2-2 record with one game to play before league begins. Mesa will be home Friday night to battle Jurupa Hills. The Spartans are 1-3 and coming off a devastating 70-7 pounding at the hands of Dominguez. Palm Springs is now 4-0 and will face Coachella Valley.
