The Rams Show the Hawaiians How We Play Football in California

Coach Justin Schaeffer’s Rams are enjoying a well deserved Luau after crushing St. Francis 39-0 Friday night. The Saints had previously racked up 126 points and had given up just 12 in their first three games. Murrieta Mesa opened their season by simply dominating the game on both sides of the pigskin.

Murrieta broke out to an early lead by scoring two touchdowns and forcing a safety in the first period. Leading 16-0, the Rams added a 25 yard field goal by Mateo Thompson in the second quarter and took a 19-0 lead at the half. Thompson took away the Saints return game by putting the ball into the end zone every time he kicked off. He was also perfect on all 4 PATs.

The Rams would score 20 more unanswered points in the second half to claim the victory. McKinley Ross carried the ball 15 times and gained 125 yards to lead the Ram attack. He also caught 3 passes and scored a touchdown on the ground and another in the air.

Peyton Uhl completed 8 of 17 passes for 73 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for one. Jeff Miller came in and was 5 for 7 for 44 yards. He also threw one touchdown. Maxwell Scott caught three passes for 36 yards and Giovanni Sanders caught one 14 yard toss for a touchdown.

The Ram defense came together as a unit and totally shut down the potent St. Frances offensive unit.
The Rams will be back on the mainland next week for their home opener against a tough and nasty Rancho Verde team. The Mustangs lost a thrilling 28-21game to Citrus Hill last week and are looking for their first victory of the season.
