Murrieta Valley defeated Palm Desert 3-1 to improve to 11-6 so far into the 2015 season. The Nighthawks are ranked 13th in the CIF SS Division 1AA Polls and seem to be getting stronger with each game. The victory against the Aztecs was Murrieta’s fifth in a row.
McKenna Miller led the Nighthawks with 20 kills followed by Rebecca Rendhal who had 10. Desiree Sukhov had 12 digs and McKenna Miller had 4 aces and came up with 10 digs. Setter Ashlyn Gergins had 37 assists.
Murrieta Mesa 3 Hemet 1
The Rams bounced back from last week’s 3-0 defeat to Elsinore and beat Hemet 3-1 Tuesday afternoon. Mesa won the first set 25-18 but dropped the second 21-25. Freshman Kali Uhl got the Rams back on track and Mesa took the final sets 25-19, and 25-22.
Uhl led the Rams with 17 kills and 22 digs. Leimomi Arscott had 12 kills and 10 digs while Kiara Schmidt had 11 digs. Setter Savannah Esteban made 24 assists.
The rams are home to face Temescal Canyon while the Nighthawks travel to Corona to take on Santiago. The Sharks are looking to avenge yesterday’s loss to Southwestern League defending Champ Great Oak.
