HS Volleyball: Chaparral Sweeps Poly, Murrieta Valley Knocks Off Redlands East Valley

The Pumas Hand New Coach Dana Burkholder Her First Victory at Chaparral.

11825847_1188980831129246_3147265896060028357_nChaparral opened its 2015 Varsity Volleyball season with a convincing 3 set sweep of Riverside Poly. The Pumas started strong and never looked back, taking the first set 25-16. The Bears battled back and scored their game high 18 points in the second game losing 25-18.

As a result our team played better said Coach Burkholder”. “Moving forward we need to find the balance between smart and aggressive and be disciplined with our system”.

Chaparral finished off Poly in the third set, winning the game with a 25-17 performance and giving Burkholder her first victory as the Head Coach of the team.

The Pumas have the Labor Day weekend to celebrate but will be back on the court in Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday, The Cougars beat Claremont in their season opener and will be playing in the Los Osos Tournament over the weekend.

Murrieta Valley Slips Past REV
In other Southwestern League Girls Volleyball action, Murrieta Valley opened its season with a tough five set victory over Redlands East Valley. The Wildcats took the opening set 25-22 and the Nighthawks battled back in the second winning 25-22.

REV bounced back in the third set, winning 25-18 only to fall to Murrieta Valley in a close match 25-23. The Nighthawks narrowly slipped past the Wildcats 15-13 in the final set.
Murrieta Valley will be traveling to Rancho Cucamonga to play Etiwanda in the Inland Empire Classic. The Eagles are 1-0 after sweeping Pomona in their opening game.
