San Bernardino: California Indians Come Together to Celebrate Their Official State Holiday

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Hosts the Annual California Native American Day Celebration at Cal State San Bernardino
IMG_9545Traditional dancers from southern, central and northern California will highlight a celebration of California Native American Day, which has now been designated a permanent state holiday. The event will be held on  Friday, September 25th from 6 to 9:00pm.

Dozens of California Indians will be on hand to share regional dances and songs with those in attendance. Favorite Native American foods such as Indian fry bread will be available for purchase along with craft items from onsite vendors.

Additionally, children are invited to make their own Clapper Stick, a rhythmic instrument that is traditional to central Californian tribes and join with singers from the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians of the central Sierra Nevada region.

The event is free and open to the public.
