The game started as a defensive battle with both teams trading field goals in the second quarter.  Great Oak’s Tanner Kuljian nailed a 35-yarder followed by Corona’s John Cross who put one in from the 27.

Both teams scored in the third quarter as Connor Strode hauled in a 11 yard TD pass for the Wolfpack. The Panthers then drove down field to score on a Malik Walker’s 1-yard plunge into the end zone with under a minute to go in the quarter. It was all tied up at 10 apiece as the Final quarter began.

The Wolfpack pulled away from the panthers as they scored twice with four minutes left in the game. CJ Ly intercepted Corona quarterback Jake Sparks’ pass and took it 30-yards for a touchdown. Minutes later a Demetric Felton blasted past Panther defenders for a 83-yard run to make the score at 24-10.

Great Oak is off next week with a bye and will begin Southwestern League play against defending Champion Vista Murrieta on October 9. The Broncos los to Orange Lutheran 29-14 last night and will face St. Augustine next week.
