Chaparral’s Jeremy McCullough Brings Back 2-Ex Puma Head Coaches to Help Rebuild the Football Program

Three of the Puma Coaches prowling the sidelines all have one thing in common. They are or have been head coaches for Chaparral High School. New head coach Jeremy McCullough spent ten seasons at Chaparral as the offensive Coordinator where he helped orchestrate two Southwestern league titles, seven playoff appearances, four straight trips to the semi-finals and three Inland Division Championship games. He helped the Pumas win the Inland Division Title in 2009.

“It is great to be back in the coaching ranks at Chaparral” said McCullough. “I loved my time at Great Oak but as they say, there’s no place like home, and Chaparral has been my home for fifteen years. When the opportunity presented itself it became very clear that this was the right decision for me and my family. It is a great school and district so I am proud to represent both as Chaparral’s Head Football Coach”.
McCullough has brought in two other coaches that helped build the Pumas into a Southwestern League football powerhouse. First is Dennis Amador, Chaparral’s fist Head Coach. Amador is in his 33rd year of coaching football at the high school and community college levels and served as the head football coach at Chaparral for 9 years.
In addition to his coaching tenure with Pumas, Coach Amador has coached varsity football at Garey, Chino, Don Lugo, Temecula Valley, Rancho Verde and Great Oak High Schools. He was also the defensive coordinator/assistant head coach at Chaffey College and defensive secondary coach at San Bernardino Valley College. He is in charge of the Pumas quarterbacks.
Also joining McCullough on the sidelines is Tommy Leach. Leach was Chaparral’s second Head Football Coach and took the Pumas to 4 CIF SS semi-final appearances, 3 CIF SS final appearances, and one Inland Division CIF SS Championship in 2009. He has a 12 – 5 CIF SS play-off record.
“Coach McCullough and I were all part of those past successful Chaparral Puma Teams” said Coach Leach. “I am thankful that Coach McCullough gave me this opportunity to Coach at Chaparral again. I have coached under many great head coaches in the past and I predicting that Coach McCullough will be the best of the bunch”.
The new coaching staff has revitalized the Pride in the Puma Football Program. Players, reporters, fans and parents can sense a change on the sidelines. Chaparral finished their non league schedule with a record of 2-3. The Pumas will face Temecula Valley Friday night to open their Southwestern League schedule.
