Only two Southwestern League teams are playing this weekend as the final week of non-league play wraps up. Vista Murrieta, still stinging from the loss to Orange Lutheran heads to San Diego to face St. Augustine.
The Saints are 4-1 and are coming off a huge 46-9 victory over Eastlake. St. Augustine is ranked in the top four teams in San Diego County and number 20 in the State. Led by junior quarterback Rodney Thompson the Saints have a explosive offense and can score a lot, quickly. Elijah Preston moves the chains on the ground while Luke Lacey and Jordon Books are dangerous receivers.
The Broncos are led by quarterback Kade Greeley, running back Cole Dubots and wide receiver Kyle Williams.
The defense is punishing, disciplined and tough to move the ball on but they faltered against Orange Luthern. “We are not playing well right now” said head coach Coley Candaele. “We need to get better”.
