HS Tennis: Murrieta Valley’s 7-Year Winning Streak Ended by Temecula Valley

The Nighthawks Continue to Dominate the Southwestern League and are Ranked Ninth in CIF SS Division 2 Polls

Nighthawk Coach Trent Warren has created a winning environment at Murrieta Valley and established a dynasty in the Southwestern league Girls Tennis. The Nighthawks ha been undefeated in league play for the last seven seasons and have been the Southwestern League Champions for those 7 years.

All streaks come to an end and the Golden Bears rallied to beat the defending Champs 10-8 in yesterday’s league match. Although upsetting, the defeat simply fortified Coach Warren’s resolve. “Our goal continues to be make the CIF playoffs, and be in a position to compete for a league title”.

In the latest CIF SS Division 2 Polls that were release on Monday, the Nighthawks were ranked 9th. Murrieta Valley has been in the CIF SS Division 2 Championship game for the past two years, finishing second to Valencia in 2014.

The Murrieta Valley varsity roster is led by Serbain Jovana Kuljanin (#1 Singles) who is currently ranked #23 for seniors in Southern California and was First Team All Conference in 2014.  Faith Pearson (#2 Singles) is ranked number 47 for all freshman in Sothern California and Alana Andrews (#3 Singles) was also selected to as a First Team All Conference player in 2014.

The Nighthawks #1 Doubles team is Kelsey Lajom and Ashley Nishimoto. Shruit Amin and Audra Gorria make up the # 2# team and the 3# doubles consists of  Brooke Cornelius and Elise Seyarto.
The stunned Nighthawks are focused and ready for the challenges as they strive towards their goal of winning the Southwestern league. Murrieta Valley will play Murrieta Mesa next Tuesday.
