Murrieta Valley improved to 12-7 with a 3-1 victory over Los Osos Tuesday as the Nighthawks gear up for the beginning of Southwestern league play on Thursday. Their opponents will be cross-own rival Murrieta Mesa who also won their nonleague match 3-1 over Paloma Valley.

The Nighthawks won the first two sets 25-19 and 25-14, which allowed Murrieta Valley head coach JD Miranda an opportunity to give his bench some valuable playing time. After losing the third set 21-25 the Nighthawks finished off the Grizzlies 25-19.

“The team is continuing to improve and we're excited about league. We know our league is always going to be a challenge and we wouldn't want it any other way” said coach Miranda. “We're starting to click at the right time. The girls work hard every day to improve on our weaknesses and continue to get better. If they continue to work like they have been, we should have a great season”.
Murrieta Mesa flexed their muscles against a tough Paloma Valley team winning in 4-sets 25-20, 23-25, 25-17, 25-15. The Rams were led freshman Kali Uhl who had 23 kills and 13 digs. Charlotte Greek had 17 is and 19 assists and setter Savanah Esteban had 20 assists.

The Rams are also 12-7 for the season. The two teams will meet at Murrieta Mesa next Tuesday at 4:45pm.
