HS Volleyball: Southwestern League Competition Begins with Victories for Great Oak, Murrieta Valley and Temecula Valley

Temecula Valley-Chaparral
The game between Temecula Valley and Chaparral was the game of the evening. The Golden Bears came back from a 2-set deficit to come back and take 3straight to beat the Pumas 3-2. Chaparral won the first two sets 19-25, 21-25 and had the game in hand when momentum changed and Temecula came roaring back.
The Golden Bears won the third set 25-19 and then the fourth 25-21. Temecula clinched the match with a 15-11 victory in the tie-breaker.
Kali Greathead led the Temecula Valley attack with 15 kills and Kyra Eyerman added 14 and also had 18 digs.. Kyla Washiko had 19 digs and Jordan Amoy had 47 assists for Temecula Valley.
Madlyn Pulver scored 11 kills and Julianne Nussbaum added 10 for the Pumas.

Great Oak-Vista Murrieta
The Wolfpack devoured the Broncos in their Southwestern League opener 3-1. Great Oak won the first set 25-16 before dropping the second 19-25. That would be the only game Vista Murrieta would win as the Wolfpack came back to take the next two sets 25-19, 25-14.
Amy Underdown and Drew Morris led the Great Oak attack with14 kills apiece. Bailee Huizenga added 10 kills to the Wolfpack total. Samantha Rice had 13 digs and Brynn Sherbert 13. Vista Murrieta’s Rachel Woody and Alexanda Hadrych had 13 kills each.
Murrieta valley-Murrieta Mesa
The Nighthawks swept Murrieta Mesa Tuesday night to open their Southwestern league schedule. “The girls played great” said Murieta Valley Head Coach JD Miranda. “Our serve and receive was really on and we were able to distribute the ball among our hitters’. Chaparral Fights to the Bitter End but Falls to Temecula Valley in Five
