Baker also plays on the Girls Volleyball team. It’s the first year she has been on the Eagles varsity roster and getting everything to work out has been difficult. "It is challenging, but I am very lucky to be at a school where my coaches work together to make it happen” said Baker. “They all want me to enjoy high school. I kick with my football team once a week, and never miss a Friday night game”.
For volleyball Baker practices with the team once a week, plays two games and sometimes competes in tournaments on a Saturday. “My parents take me on the weekends after church to kick on the field. They also took me to a kicking camp called ‘Snap Hold Kick’ before the season in the summer”.
The talented sophomore also plans to play on Rancho Christian’s Girls Soccer team in the winter. Asked if that was it, Baker smiled and replied “I'd like to try lacrosse if our school starts a team”.

Academics are equally important for the Eagles talented athlete. "I have a study hall at school, and usually do a lot of extra studies on the weekends." Although Baker is not sure yet where she would like to go for college, she is interested in anatomy, maybe a career medicine.
So how did she become the region’s most successful female PAT& Field Goal kicker? "My parents and my brother pushed me to try kicking in the 8th grade” said Baker. “They and my grandparents support me in all I do. Coach Hugo, at Snap Hold Kick, has been a great inspiration to me since the beginning, and has helped with my mechanics as well as confidence”.
Her goals? "I'd like to break the National Field Goal Record for a girl held by Heidi Garrett which is 48 yards" said Baker. “I kicked three 49 yarders at practice, so I know I can do it. The opportunity needs to be just right, and I need to stay focused. I always want to get better at whatever I am doing and am very thankful to God for blessing me with these gifts”.
The Eagles will be playing Calvary Murrieta at Temescal Canyon Friday night for their first league football game. The Girls Volleyball team will be at Calvary Murrieta on Tuesday. Come out and support all these talented student athletes this week.
