On August 24, 2019, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department conducted a patrol saturation in the unincorporated community of Lake Elsinore.

This saturation operation was in response to numerous requests by community members, and at the direction of Sheriff Bianco. The proactive enforcement focused on subjects suspected of being in possession of or under the influence of controlled substances.

The saturation resulted in 79 arrests and the seizure of methamphetamine, heroin, drug paraphernalia, a stolen vehicle, and various weapons. Several of the individuals arrested advised they were homeless.

Social Workers Action Group (SWAG), a non-profit agency, was able to assist 20 of those individuals with ending their cycles of homelessness though the homeless outreach program.

These individuals will have the opportunity to receive additional services to assist them with permanent housing, substance abuse education, financial education and job placement.

Possession and use of illegal drugs are the underlying cause of many crimes affecting the citizens of Riverside County. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has a zero-tolerance policy for these offenses. If you suspect drug activity in your area, please contact your local Sheriff’s Station.
