The
Coyotes Score Five Out of Eight Chances
The No.
14 Coyotes turned a 1-0 haltime lead into an explosive second half
that saw them defeat Notre Dame de Namur 5-0 on Saturday.
Pedro
Arellano scored the goal in the 43rd minute on an assist from Carlos
Esparza. The teams went to the half at that score, but just two
minutes into the second half Omari Mark
scored on an assist from Arellano.
Brandon
Sangbarani scored in the 55th minute
with an assist from Carlos Lira.
Jonathan Garcia scored
again in the 62nd minute and Kevin Aguilar put in the final goal in
the 79th minute with an assist from Jesus
Ortega.
"We
were pretty fortunate to go into the half up 1-0 after a pretty
frustrating half," head coach Darren
Leslie said. "We addressed a
couple things at halftime and the team responded with two quick goals
to settle the nerves. It probably wasn't our cleanest all-around
performance, but we made up for some poor finishing on Thursday with
some clinical finishing today."
The
Yotes were extremely effective, putting five of their eight shots on
goal in the net. Jacob Huber made five saves and combined with
Carlos Barrera to
earn the shutout in goal.
