The Highlanders Dropped their Fourth Straight Conference Match
The UC
Riverside Women's Volleyball Team (5-11, 1-4) dropped its fourth
straight conference match Thursday night as the Highlanders fell 3-0
to visiting CSUN (6-10, 1-3).
After
falling 25-16 in the first set, the Highlanders retaliated with a
strong second set, where they held the lead for most of the battle.
Unfortunately, the Matadors were determined to keep it close fighting
back and forcing extra points, before taking it 29-27. A 25-19 third
set in CSUN's favor would give UCR its fourth straight shutout loss.
Freshman
Amarachi Osuji got
back to her double-digit ways posting 11 kills, her most since the
team's win over Cal State Fullerton where she landed a career-high
20. Junior Morgan Kline
led the team with 20 assists and junior Ayla
Fresenius led the way with eight digs.
The
Highlander attack was far from efficient with the team posting 25
errors and a swing rate of .114. CSUN saw a cleaner line of .310 with
just 11 errors.
UCR
will now look to bounce back this Saturday when the team hosts Long
Beach State in the two teams' first matchup of the season.
